Childminding Information session

The session will provide information for what you need to know if you are thinking about becoming a childminder. It will help you decide if childminding is right for you. The session also provides information about our Pre-Registration Training and how to register with Ofsted. You will need to attend this free session before signing up for the Childminder registration course, as part of the pathway. 

The registration course is delivered by Redbridge Childminding Development officers and is made up of 4 modules which you are expected to attend in full.

Modules include:

• Safeguarding
• Health and Safety
• Learning and Development
• Behaviour
• Working in Partnership

By the end of the course, you will have compiled a portfolio containing policies and procedures relevant to each unit, and this means you are ready for your Ofsted pre-registration visit. There will be some independent learning as part the course and the process.

Also included in the course once the modules are complete, is a home assessment visit from a Childminding Development officer and Paediatric First Aid training. 

A visit will cover:

• A risk assessment of your childminding setting         
• A review of your childminding portfolio        
• The process of your Ofsted registration visit         
• Questions and topics that could be asked by the Ofsted
